How hard can this be?

This is a test

I've been a researcher for the Guide for over two months now and during that time I've been casting about for a suitable subject for my first Guide Entry. I thought I'd hit on a promising topic, briefly. Nobody would have tackled "Bimbobabble" as I had just invented the term, which refers the phenomenon of language contrived by advertisers specifically to blind women with "science". It used to be the standard lingo for advertisements aimed at women - particularly those involving shampoos and cosmetics. Unfortunately, the idea occurred to me too late as those adverts have reverted to something closer to plain English. I wonder why. I would speculate that the advertisers' ploy didn't work because women weren't as daft as they'd hoped.

Now I've decided on another subject that might prove interesting. It probably won't be anywhere near good enough to become an Edited Guide Entry, but I'm only an apprentice so I have to start somewhere. Practice makes perfect or, in my case, slightly less imperfect. My first Journal Entry was marred by inexperience and Microsoft, so I'm doing this test to find the limits of editability for Guide Entries. H2G2 might give me the sack if I fail to learn from my mistakes.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
