Claire Bennet - a high school cheerleader, Claire struggles to try to fit in and cope with the emergence of her incredible abilities. A central character, she plays an important role in the story. She possesses the power of rapid cellular regeneration, allowing her to heal from virtually any wound or bodily injury, as well as allowing her to heal others by infusing them with her blood.
Hiro Nakamura - an imaginative office drone from Tokyo, Japan, Hiro was thrilled to find he had powers, and, bound by his own superhero-inspired moral code, set off on heroic adventures. He is the underachieving son of formidable business magnate Kaito Nakamura, who is also Hiro's teacher in battojutsu. Hiro has the power to bend space and time, allowing him to time travel, stop, slow down, speed up or reverse time, and teleport instantaneously through space.
Senator Nathan Petrelli - an ambitious, pragmatic politician who has the ability to fly at incredible speeds, Nathan is the stern older brother of Peter Petrelli and the biological father of Claire Bennet. Despite his cold exterior, his heroism shines through when he sacrifices himself to save New York City.
Noah Bennet - an agent of the mysterious 'Company', Mr. Bennet regularly travels the world in order to bag and tag evolved humans deemed dangerous to others because of their abilities or otherwise. Despite this occupation, he is a caring family man who loves and protects his adoptive daughter Claire. Although he does not have any powers, his experience and skills make him a formidable individual.
Isaac Mendez - a painter and comic book artist from New York, Isaac is the boyfriend of art dealer Simone Deveaux and a struggling heroin addict. However, when taking heroin, Isaac goes into trances that activate his ability of precognition, allowing him to paint the future extremely accurately. Much of his artwork plays a central role in the Heroes story. Near the end of Season 1, Isaac was murdered by Sylar, who then duplicated his power of precognition, but not before Isaac had had the chance to perform one last noble deed - sending off his prophetic paintings into safe hands to show the other heroes what was to come and how to stop Sylar. Despite his death, his artwork and legacy still plays a vital role in the lives of the Heroes, throughout subsequent seasons.
Det. Matt Parkman - a police detective formerly from Los Angeles, now working for the NYPD, Matt is also the adoptive father of Molly Walker and an ally of the Petrelli brothers. Like his villainous father Maury Parkman, Matt has the power of telepathy, allowing him to read, control, and influence peoples minds.
Micah Sanders - a child prodigy and technology whiz now living in New Orleans, Micah has the power of technopathy, allowing him to interface with, manipulate and control electronic technology. The son of Niki Sanders and D.L. Hawkins, he is resourceful and caring, and has saved the day on more than one occasion.
Niki Sanders - a former stripper from Las Vegas, Niki possesses the power of super strength. She is a sufferer of multiple personalities, and one of her personas, Jessica, has used her strength to commit brutal murders, while being an agent for Mr. Linderman.
D.L. Hawkins - a construction worker, and the husband of Niki and the father of Micah, D.L. was wrongly imprisoned for murder and the theft of $2 million, but escaped due to the emergence of hs power, reuniting with his wife and son. He has the ability of phasing, allowing him to pass through matter and hurt others by phasing through them.
Adam Monroe/Takezo Kensei - the primary antagonist of Season 2, Adam was previously a good character, living in feudal Japan, having met the time travelling Hiro Nakamura and being persuaded to 'write history'. However, he eventually became evil, and turned against Hiro. Adam possesses the power of rapid cellular regeneration, allowing him to recover from any injury. His powers became so advanced, that he found he had stopped physically aging, meaning that by the time of Season 2, he had lived for over 400 years, founding the mysterious 'Company' along the way.
Gabriel Gray/Sylar - a watchmaker from Brooklyn, Gabriel always wanted to be considered special. However, this woke a terrible thirst for power inside of him, turning him into a serial killer, who hunted down other evolved humans. Sylar possesses the unique, innate ability of intuitive aptitude, an enigmatic power that allows him to determine exactly how things work, and it is this skill that allows him to acquire the powers of others, by opening their skulls and examining their brains to determine how their power functions, in order to duplicate it himself. However, since the start of Season 3, Sylar has begun to try to redeem himself, becoming an agent of the Company and performing heroic deeds. However, by the second half of season 3, he has returned to his old ways again after discovering that his so-called allies had no intention of redeeming him or giving him a chance to be a hero.
Dr. Mohinder Suresh - a young genetics professor now living in New York City, Mohinder carries on the work of his late father Chandra Suresh, which dealt with the discovery, locations and study of evolved human beings. Although he does not have any powers, Mohinder has dealt wth evolved humans, both good and evil, many times, and is considered an expert on posthuman abilities and genetics.
West Rosen - a secondary character during Season 2, West was initially introduced as a non-conformist student at Claire Bennet's new high school in Costa Verde, who took an interest in Claire, seeing her, like him, as different and a free spirit. They eventually became a couple after revealing their evolved human abilities to one another. However, the relationship became uneasy after it was discovered that Claire's father Noah, a Company Agent, had abducted West as a child during a routine bag-and-tag mission, causing West to believe that Claire had double crossed him. However, West and Claire reconciled after he helped Noah save Claire from Bob and Elle Bishop. West has the power of flight, like Nathan Petrelli, but cannot achieve the supersonic speeds Nathan can, although he is able to fly with more agility and control.
