I Remember (Secrets)
Created | Updated Jul 10, 2009
I remember your beauty in butterfly days
In the sun-shimmer heat of the summertime haze
Your eyes were an ocean of salty sea blue
And I searched in the sand for the secret of you
I remember the ice on the deep winter lake
So thin and transparent we feared it would break
We skated so nervously, round and around
Avoiding the cracks where your secrets had drowned
I remember the daffodil new-petal spring
A fragrant delight that inspired everything
I dreamed I awakened a spark of your joy
That secret of life that no soul can destroy
The autumn was crimson and ochre and gold
The wind in the trees did blow anxious and cold
It scattered your secrets all over my heart
I remember a grief that no words can impart
