Jeremy, I very much want to include your entry on How to Sing the Blues. First, may I ask whether the original author agreed to let you requote his material? Does he know his post has been copied to h2g2?
I do want some reassurances that the original poster has an agreement with you before I list the entry. My experience is that most authors are flattered that someone found their writing worth repeating. Please let me know, as I'd love to add this entry to our directory.

Fragilis, I made a Google research and I think to have found the original author, Judith Powell, Washington DC. I have not yet reached her by phone or mail. Seemingly there has been some fuss about that post, as it's quoted all over the Net without permission of the author ::shame on me, I have sinned:: .
She doesn't want any royalties for the publication, she only wants due credit. I'll try to contact her and ask for her explicit permission. I have deleted the Entry to prevent further copyright violations. Maybe Judith let's me restore it, that's what I hope!
I'll keep you informed.

Good luck! If she has stated that she wants no royalties, but does want due credit, I'm fine with including the entry in the Musician Guild's directory as long as you make it clear that Judith Powell wrote it. After all, the entry is very worthwhile. You could not submit the entry to the Edited Guide, though, because their policies are stricter than mine.

Fragilis,
I sent her a mail a couple of hours ago, asking for her explicit permisson. I offered her to take a look at H2G2, just to see that it's a good place for her work. Maybe she's going to like it and we might have another Musicians Guild Member (?)
I'll keep you informed.

Fragilis,
Judith has answered my mail:
[QUOTE]
I just had a peek at H2G2.com and have
reservations--it looks like it is a commercial enterprise. I'm a
professional writer, albeit not a well paid one. Example: Gave
permission to a Church in New Orleans, but asked Car Talk to take it
off
their website. So I think I'll give h2t2 a miss. Judith Podell

I'm not happy with that, but I accept it. It's her work, so it's her word. It would have been such an excellent addition to the Guide!!

I agree! I can understand that she doesn't want anyone else to profit from her work, even in a cheap secondary fashion. It's a shame, but I agree we should respect the author. And you're right. It would have made a great addition. Oh, well.

Maybe she is going to change her mind, at least I hope so.
