New York City - Queens - Forest Hills - Local Color: Elegant Elliot

Background Story
As part of my ongoing quest to get some exposure to Forest Hills I found the following entry from four years ago. It's great to gain some insight into the people of the neighborhood. Anyway, the Barnes & Noble bookstore mentioned in the excerpt is located on Austin Street (see my Forest Hills review) about 3 blocks west of 71st Ave. The reference to "Face Man" is true, because he is part of the "irregulars" that appear on the "Howard Stern Radio Show" here in NYC. Without further ado, enjoy!
The following is a reprint of an original posting in 2000 from the now seemingly MIA Researcher 158239...
Face Man, not to be confused with Foot Man (who I'll get to another time) is the name people at the Forest Hills, NY Barnes & Noble have given to an odd local phenomenom. Elliot Osprey (sp?) is the name of a Forest Hills weirdo. No matter the time of year or the weather, he is on the corner of Austin st. and 70th Rd., jogging. He wears a mauve bodysuit and a black (sometimes white) thong, and black fishnets. His hair is piled on top of his head and he wears garish makeup. And he wears a walkman. And there he stands, jogging for all to see. Usually, he will jog in front of Piu Bello, a street cafe, until he is asked to move. Then he crosses the street and jogs in front of B&N, until our security guards ask him to move.
He attracts loads of attention and kids will throw stones. He now has his own police protection. They take their job lightly, usually laughing at him. He got the name Face Man because he will often stare in the B&N windows sneering at us. On July 17th, Face Man rose to new fame as he was a guest on The Howard Stern Show. It is not known why he does what he does. He claims that he is not gay or a transvestite. By day he is a lawyer. Once he even did a cabaret act on his car. Sometimes, he stuffs his thong, to the horror and delight of passersby. At night, he will even jog in front of an antique mirror provided for him by an apparent roadie.
