...and added you to my friends list.
I know it's a bit left-field, I lurk a lot and have seen you in many a conversation.
I hope you don't mind, but if you do, please speak up!

Not at all, as long as you don't mind me returning the favour.

The problem with adding someone as a friend on h2g2 is that you don't get subscribed to old journal conversations, and sometimes those are the really interesting ones. If you're interested in films there's one in my journal that's mostly just me and Count Zero talking about what films we've seen lately.
Any long-running ones in yours that might be fun?

None of mine are fun. The last one was about Home Education - which is what I now do. I just don't use them often (or have enough friends to comment, possibly). Camaris (Teh Blak Kitteh) has a couple, although they're not interesting either. I tend to talk in Lil's Atelier, really. All life is held in there...
Will have a lurk to find the film one. As an employee of a national DVD rental company I feel it my duty watch many of them before they're released to the public (and sometimes even before they're released on DVD ). I prefer the Sci-Fi/Horror malarky, though, and am a bit of a game-head. At 43 you'd think I'd have got over that phase, but what the hey.
Jabberwock's 'Guess the Poet' is an interesting one. I keep trying Serj Tankinan - but it's not really googleable (when did that become a word?)
I'm rambling, I'm going to stop.

You're also up very late, I think Stockport, huh? Oh how I miss Robinson's Mild and Old Tom
And Joseph Holt and Thwaites
Open a Google Maps page, paste this (53.453369, -2.243746) into the search box, hit Search Maps and then drag the little orange man into the map... that used to be my nightly watering hole

Crivvens, the world is small and getting smaller - I used live fairly close to that pub. On Markington Street. (W actually moved from one house to another further down the street when my little brother was born - it had three bedrooms rather than the two of the other house. The first one had an Anderson shelter in the back yard.
I've subbed to the movies convo. So may be sticking my oar in.

Good grief, that's spooky
I lived... well, more like stayed, at a house on Hartington Street on and off for about a year. Mid to late 70s this would have been. Then I moved to the other side of Alexandra Park to Whalley Range for a year or two. Much more upmarket you know

Not any more, many a drug den is there now!
My mum used to insist that we lived in Fallowfield - it still makes me laugh.

Whalley Range was deffo upmarket to Moss Side back then, although certain parts of WR were... well, you could find a certain kind of lady there
So I'm told
But there were still a few old school types around. A knew an Hon. who lived in one of those big houses on Demesne Road, and a friend of hers on Alexandra Park Road who claimed to have done all kinds of things for MI5 (or its then equivalent) during the war.
Fallowfield
I knew some people in Ladybarn Lane... or was it Ladybarn Road? And some more friends on Dickenson Road which, coincidentally, I heard mentioned a few days ago, but of course I can't remember where.
Dammit, you don't know what you've started by adding me to your friends - I'm going to have to swing by Stockport next time I'm in the UK for a pint or two of Robbo's

I'm sure I could grab a few more of us (and there'd be a bed no less than ten mins walk away)
