Life in Sydney

Sydney is a city of contrast. Not that there's anything particularly divergent about it: it just represents different things to different people.
For those (like me) who migrated from the sleepy backwaters of New Zealand and the South Pacific, Sydney represents something of a mixture of the biblical Soddom and Gomorrah we all dreamed of as little gay boys pondering what could be so deliciously naughty about those towns that God would feel he had no choice but to wipe them from the face of the planet, and one endless bitch-fest.
For those more sophisticated types, Sydney will represent a quaint backwater with nice beaches and strangely-tanned locals speaking an almost incomprehensible form of English.
In many ways, the Sydney gay scene is much the same.
