A Conversation for Isaac Asimov

Caves of Steel 1964

It is my belief that the BBC made a TV programme of "The Caves of Steel" by Isaac Asimov. Astonishing that the BBC comes up with the goods where American TV fails. I've always thought that Asimov's work was not looked at enough for film or television. When I went to the cinema with my partner and her daughter to watch Bicentennial Man, they were astonished that I knew so much about the story. What they didn't realise that I had been such an avid devotee of Asimove since being 12 years old.

My thought of the look of Elijah Bailey was a Martin Sheen type person (President Bartlett in West Wing). It was therefore disappointing to discover that the BBC had used Peter Cushing as Elijah Bailey. I'd really like to see how this works, and despite many enquiries, have been unable to locate a copy of the video or DVD. Please BBC, put it on BBC2 late one night, or release it as a video.

Bad news, I'm afraid. I've been doing some additional Asimov research, with the goal of finally completing an article about him. It turns out that the tapes for the TV programme were erased long ago.
