As you should already know by now i preach sitting in bars as a kind of lifestyle. And as i'm doing this quite a while since now, i thought i was pretty good in it. Sure i am, but when i visited New Orleans i felt just like a beginner in the terms mentoined above. It is the only town in the USA i have been recently visiting that has something called "flair". And i don't know where it comes from: is it the heat or the moisture? Is it the friendly people all around or the french cafes? Is it the music? I just don't know, but i think it could be some kind of mixture of everything. And voodoo. I was never superstitious, but since I was to New Orleans i am, i think. It is the tranquilizing mood there. One gets the feeling that there is something behind everywhere and it is following. Small, red eyes that watch everything. One cannot distinguish if they are friend or foe. And nothing ever happens, does it? Fortunately it seems that everyone in New Orleans seems to have the same feeling. But beeing not an anxious kind of human beeing the New Orleans people found a way to get rid of potential eerie feelings. There recipe is: "Party all night". It's great. Las Vegas is the Mekka for gamblers but New Orleans is the place for party people. Especially at the French Quarter. You can have tons of fun listening to soulmusic and blues played by perfect artists for free. Sit in a bar, have a drink or two, walk around on Bourbon Street in the warm nights and get lost in an ocean of blues. Until the next morning. When the little red eyes are back. If you are lucky they are just yours in the mirror.
