How to make a cat toy

0 Conversations

Playing with a cat can be very entertaining. Here are instructions for a cheap and simple cat toy that all cats seem to like.

What you need:

A longish bit of string, not less than the length of your arm.

A small paper or crinkly plastic item such as a cellophane from a cigarette pack, a sticky message note, a small peice of wrapping paper, or anything of the type. It should be no larger than a postcard, and ideally should make noise when crumpled.

How to:

First take the paper/cellophane/whatever and fold or roll it into a tube.

Then tie one end of the string tightly around the middle. It should pinch in the middle of the tube, and not be able to slide off easily.

Then bend the tube in half, so that it takes on a V-shaped appearance.

Now go to the other end of the string, and tie a loop in it, so you can put your fingers through.

Some suggestions for use:

Try dragging it along the floor, making it twitch as you do so. Think of the way moths move when they crawl. Or pull it slowly along the floor and then around a corner. Cats can't resist chasing something that might escape. Twitching it up into the air or up the wall also has a good effect.

Have fun
