Tecumseh, Michigan (USA)
Created | Updated Jan 28, 2002
Tecumseh is a small rural town in the lower part of Michigan's Lower Penninsula. Though its population generally hovers around only 10,000 people, it held an unusual distinction: for a short time in its history, it held the most millionaires per capita for any town in the United States.
Tecumseh Products
Founded by the Herrick family toward the end of the Great Depression, the Tecumseh Products company transformed a small country villiage into an industrial town. Tecumseh Products manufactures refrigeration compressors, giving the town another distinction as "Refrigeration Capitol of the World."
