Time to clear out some Peer Review threads?
Wampus Started conversation Oct 1, 2000
There seems to be a sudden spike in the number of PR threads which are multiple posts, off-topic posts (those which don't recommend any article in particular), or recommendations for posts which are not factual material (such as the one for H2G2 olympics and H2G2 casino). I think there should be an effort made to clear out those posts. So far, I think these posts should be moved to misc. chat or the article's forum: http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=79458&skip=0&show=20 http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=79457&skip=0&show=20 (both are multiple posts) http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=79341&skip=0&show=20 (another multiple post) http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=79338&skip=0&show=20 (doesn't recommend any article) http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=79226&skip=0&show=20 (posted in the wrong place, apparently) http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=79044&skip=0&show=20 (advertises the H2G2 casino) http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=78903&skip=0&show=20 (advertises H2G2 olympics) http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=78025&skip=0&show=20 (recommends an entry that doesn't exist) http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=69762&skip=0&show=20 (doesn't recommend any entry) http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=67280&skip=0&show=20 (old question about peer review) http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=69163&skip=0&show=20 http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=69297&skip=0&show=20 http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=69560&skip=0&show=20 (all multiple posts for the same topic) http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=70415&skip=0&show=20 (old question about peer review) http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=70043&skip=0&show=20 (multiple post) http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=71263&skip=0&show=20 (article was edited a LONG time ago) That's all for now. Hello, I'm not a scout, but I do think the peer review needs a clear-out. You can start with some threads about my entries: http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=70039&skip=0&show=20 http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=70209&skip=0&show=20 http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=70042&skip=0&show=20 http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=70040&skip=0&show=20 They would never get approved (without wholesale changes) anyway...

I brought this to Mark's attention, and he's moved the threads to the proper places. He also says it would be of great help if, along with the location of the thread, the relevant entry were to be posted. That way, he immediately knows where to move the thread, instead of having to look at it and figure it out himself. :-) Furthermore, I personally think we should hold of on "rejecting" articles that are written wrong, at least until the rejection discussion at http://www.h2g2.com/F55683?thread=86871 is resolved. I personally only pass on the threads that are already Edited, are clearly off-topic, multiple posts, etc. Happy cleaning! Wampus

okdoke - I won't mention the work in progress, the call for other info, and the soapbox - the rest I think are safe enough - eg, the article being deleted...

Hi there! I'm not a scout, but have gone through the Peer Review from top to bottom for some other reason. IMHO, the following conversations would rather belong into the sin bin, would you please check? http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=89199 (Astronomy Society) http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=70314 (/is/ edited) http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=88156 (announcing 2 entries) http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=77787 (Twisty Ties, recommended under the old scheme) http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=84875 (The Goon Show, obsolete thread) http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=84370 (Perth, request to combine 2 entries) http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=81896 (no title, link only) http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=81781 (..... personal ?) http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=81318 (edited version exists) http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=81196 (edited version exists) http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=79960 (related to thread=80877) http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=80048 (not factual) http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=79054 (not factual) http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=78975 (incomplete header of posting, personal) http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=76923 (incomplete header, double post? ok - I've brought most of those to the attention of Mark - I'm not sure if this is the correct thing to do, but there you are. We'll see.
I've skipped past those which are non-factual, or where entries already exist which the authors are trying to supplement... rejecting entries is a seperate thing which is still not totally sorted out - I've also skipped past the two duplicates - because I couldn't find which threads they are duplicates of - and for all I know someone may have vaped the duplicates and left in those...
keep up the good work
