Gerbils

Gerbils, also known as pocket knagaroos, are a pet commonly owned (especially lately in the Sligo area of Ireland due to the highly improbable occurance of 23 simultaneous givings of birth by 22 Gerbils in a local pet store) by young people and strange people alike. The are rodents, and eat nuts, green leaf vegetables and whatever little remains of Amanda Tappings career since Stargate ended.
IMPORTANT: While this planet may be described in the Guide as "Mostly Harmless", this description does NOT apply to a gerbil if your weekend job is in a deli and your hands smell of chicken fillets and battered sausages, in which case you fingertips suddenly become an irresistable buffet. Additionally, if you are bitten by a gerbil, your towel may be used to stem any bleeding. Just hope a Bugblatter beast doesn't show up while you're using it...
