Introduction

Source Radio is a radio station operating from Coventry, England.

Initially called Phoenix Student Radio, then Source FM, Source Radio was set up in conjunction with the Coventry University Students Union by a team of students back in 2000. All backgrounds of the university play a part in the broadcasts. A full studio set up within the Priory Street Students Union kitted out with the state of the art technology enables Source Radio to go live to the University and to the City of Coventry during the one-month RSLs1. A new jingle package, more music, a brand new website and a huge broadcasting team spanning all genres and backgrounds, meant the station had something for everyone - Source Radio hit the headlines locally during the broadcast.

Moving Forwards

A new management team has been set up and a full team of DJ's, producers, news readers and assistants are being gathered and trained ready for the March RSL. In 2005 a Narrowcast system was implemented, casting into all student union buildings, with the future targets set for a full time license.

The Mix

The station plays a mix of automated music, and live shows presented by students. It is a division of the Coventry University Student's Union, and membership is open to all members of the union.

The DJs

The station has over 30 DJs. Some of the most famous include James Martin, Bill Bennett, and Nick Arkell, who also DJs under the name of Nera.
