Pheonix, AZ

When flying into Pheonix you will be initially struck by the 42 shades of brown and complete lack of other colors of the city's skyline. This initial observation will prove to be completely and utterly true. Even the people are a variation of brown and thanks to the extreme desert environment anything that is not initially brown will quickly become a hue of the color.

After leaving the plane you'll walk through a cool airport which is maintained at the same temperature as every other airport in the United States. This missleads visitors into thinking the outside temperature of Pheonix is tolerable much like the rest of the United States. This is untrue and immediately after leaving the airport you will note how very oven-like the outside is. Hopefully your transportation from the airport is airconditioned. If it is not saimply rolling down the windows will not suffice in cooling you. Transportation via motorcycle is the worst case scenario, an experience similar to traveling 70 miles an hour into a hair dryer.

If you are a colorblind traveler looking for a great place to fry an egg on a sidewalk Pheonix just may be the vacation destination of choice until travel fare to the planet Venus come down a bit.
