Robert Paulig & Robert's Coffee

0 Conversations

In the year of 1987, a man named Robert Paulig, founded in Helsinki a coffee roasting company which he called "Robert's Coffee". Robert Paulig had been travelling in the USA and had noticed that the cities had cafes on every street corner. He liked this, and wanted to bring the model to Finland, too. And so he opened the first "Robert's Coffee"-shop, a little café in Helsinki.

Robert Paulig is said to bear in mind three principles:
· Coffee is a source of pleasure
· Coffee is a perishable good
· Coffee is environmentally friendly
The last point is the reason why "Robert's Coffee" uses paper bags for wrapping. Furthermore, "Robert's Coffee" emphasizes organic and human friendly production.

Nowadays "Robert's Coffee" is the biggest chain of coffee shops in the Nordic Countries, and it has coffee-shops in both Finland, Sweden, Estonia and in Denmark. You can even find "Robert's Coffee"-shops on Silja Line ferries. Altogether 42 "Robert's Coffee"-shops! (– Yet again that remarkable number.)
