Abortion/Termination
Created | Updated Jan 28, 2002
Abortion or termination as it is cosmetically acceptable, is the premature removal from the womb of a foetus.
Most Christian Denominations, especially Roman Catholics, are against abortion.
Last year the Roman Catholic Church were crtisied after they paid a 12 year old girl in Britain not to have an abortion.
Jones DG. on the web site The Christian Medical and Dental Society said:
"Once a fetus has been conceived, that fetus must be regarded with seriousness and concern. Under normal circumstances, it has a right to full development."
But the man does argue that abortion can be justified in the following circumstances:
1)To preserve the physical health of the mother.
2)In extreme circumstances to preserve the mental health of the mother.
3)When pregnancy results from rape or incest.
4)When the fetus is so severely abnormal that non-existence might be considered a benefit to the fetus.
Personally I think that abortion is acceptable in the circumstances above, and that it is not acceptable if a pregnancy occurred because you were not been careful, and such like.
