Bath - the city of waters
Created | Updated Jan 28, 2002
Bath is a world heritage site, mostly because of it's well preserved Georgian architecture.
The Romans started the city (then known as Aqaue Sulis, named after a goddess) sometime AD to enjoy the natural hot springs. Since the romans Bath has been famed for it's water, prescribed for all and sundry ailments (though drinking water a leper has just washed in may not have been a brilliant idea).
Today Bath is a friendly tourist town with far too many tour buses, two universities and two colleges and a fair whack of culture. Bath has cinemas, theatres, galleries, museums and annual literature and music festivals.
