Located on the Cowgate, Bannerman's Bar attracts a diverse clientele, many of whom being so delighted by the relaxed atmosphere, feel obliged to leave a token of their appreciation on the pavement outside. Visitors lucky enough to gain a seat near the front of the pub will be rewarded with a view of the Bare Story Pub opposite and may even gain a view of the flat above the Bare Story where it is rumoured that the legendary Arthur Dent stayed for a period.
