The problem with electric plug sockets

0 Conversations

Most electric plug sockets are designed with a switch to stop the electrical current travelling through the plug. This can be used to prevent the current reaching an electrical appliance and thus prevent it from working. It is also a safety device to make the insertion and removal of plugs a less-hazardous action.

However, the temptation to save time (potentially 1.3 seconds) when inserting or removing a plug is so immense that many people choose to just leave the switch on and risk it. There is then a possibility that your fingers might accidently touch the 'pins' of the plug - which are probably live with electric current.

Touching the pins whilst 'live' will give you a tremendous buzz: A loud insistent buzz in your head. This will continue indefinately until somebody weilding a large preferably wooden object hits you very hard and breaks the contact between you and the electricity.

Do not try this at home.
Or anywhere else.
