AL: How goes the War on Terror?

Here's a little something I'd missed:
'Washington has, for the first time, acknowledged to the United Nations that prisoners have been tortured at US detention centres in Guantanamo Bay, as well as Afghanistan and Iraq, a UN source said.
The acknowledgement was made in a report submitted to the UN Committee against Torture'

Seems the willingness is declining in the coalition:
'Uzbekistan has told the United States to quit a military base that has served as a hub for missions to Afghanistan since shortly after the 11 September 2001 attacks, a Pentagon spokesman has said.'

Here's an interesting piece about the terror's war on the home front:
'Susie's brother thought going into the National Guard was going to be a good and admirable thing, and he was deceived and betrayed. He didn't get his student loans paid off, he didn't get citizenship, but he did get thrown in jail without proper legal representation. Susie called her state's senators to see if they could help her and her brother, and she was told to quit making trouble or her entire family would be investigated.'
