A Conversation for Talking Point: Ideas for Halloween

This idea comes from my days as an impoverished student and can be used for just about any occasion:
Tack a large piece of white paper up on the wall or put a plain white tablecloth on your table. Provide crayons, paints, glue, glitter, or fabric markers or paints (for the tablecloth) and encourage your guests to 'decorate'. They can draw pictures, write poems or messages, or whatever. It's fun for the guests, and you'll be left with a memento from the occasion.
If you're feeling energetic and are handy with a needle and yarn, you can embroider the drawings and signatures on the tablecloth to help preserve them. (The tablecloth can become a bit of family history, preserving items from loved ones who have grown up or who have died.)
