A Poem

For him
Why did I never see you before?
Why did I never sense it?
Now we're together I makes so much sense
How will the others take it?
How come now both of us hide who we are?
Why do we play this charade?
Are we ashamed if they know we are one?
Can't we walk proud in the parade?
Why the denial to everyone else,
While we flirt when they are around?
All of the looks, and the leading comments,
Yet never utering that one sound?
You came to me and made me realise
That you were the man of my dreams
Why must I hide the fact that's so real?
My love for you secretly streams
Out
Weight lifted
Shoulders lightened
Conscience clean
Senses heightened
Path clear
Future plainer
My life's not
A tea strainer
Mosiac laid
A little further
Picture fuller
Me and lover
Sit among friends
Feel supported
Chat freely
Events reported
Sleep easy
Type freely
Speak open
Confidently
Gone
Why did it have to end this way?
Why so out of the blue?
Why did you take it out on me,
When others starting talking of you?
How can rumours be rumours if true?
Why are you scared to be us?
Are you so worried that being gay limits you?
Cause I always thought you had guts.
So turn me away, act straight if you most
I know what really goes on.
You'll just hurt yourself as you battle on.
Trying to act like nothings wrong
Here's hoping you have what it takes to become
The man that I thought that you were.
But your more like the child I was when we first kissed
That night you took me unaware
So carry on trying, the world to fool
Cause one day it will end in tears.
But don't expect me to run to your side
I'll be facing the world without fears
