Still working on this? You should!
One thing; I'd have to agree with Lbclaire
'I agree with Teasswill (post 25) - the entry begins with some very interesting (and horrific) factual stuff on corsets etc, but then goes a bit too far into personal opinion territory (ties, plastic surgery, Geri Halliwell etc.). These later sections would benefit from being rewritten in a more objective style."
One inaccuracy: While dark tans are *definitely* not good for you, a tan is NOT "a layer of dead skin cells"!!!! ALL the skin we can see is "dead", whether it's light or dark. The tan is caused by cell called a melanocyte, which produces melanin (and can also trigger melanoma).
UV rays darken the melanin in the skin - dark skinned people have more melanin in their skins, and a lot of fair people only tan in spots (which we call 'freckles').

You don't think it's worth sending to the Flea Market?

That can certainly be done I never quite got the hang of deciding if things were flea-markety so leave it to other people usually.

by far the worse problem and possibly the most difficult to treat is anorexia nervosa (not anorexia - seemingly 25per cent of young females seem to suffer from that whether its merely a trend or a rather extreme way of dieting/fasting). The current figures are between 1 and 2 out of 10 eventually dying from the problem - its obviously a mental illness/disease. Any site for young girls (and men to a degree) seems to be immediately proliferated by 'ana's or 'mia's' as they call themselves. There are too numerous example to cite, many of them are extremely intelligent. Indeed 'perfectionism' is one of the main traits of the condition, they are also creative. Either with real talent or simply pasting Nirvana lyrics interposed over -usually- rather gruesome 'goth' images, decapitated dolls covered in blood etc (theres obviously a need for attention/shock).
By sheer chance I met an american with several degrees and with some expertise in treating anorexia and passed his details/MSN/email to him and he had considerable success treating these girls age between 16-34. Sadly he is being treated for cancer right now and the help - these ppl need constant attention - has dwindled.
I'm not in any position to help these people, which is upsetting because they are all universally pleasant and overly polite (as ppl with low esteem with perfectionist traits often are). I found this thread and was interested to know whether any of you could possibly think of any advice or indeed, even chat to these people and offer them some way out - however small the light flickers at the end of the tunnel.
