A Conversation for Talking Point: What Should We Do With h2g2?

What should we do with H2G2?

What we shouldn't be doing is going down the road of social networking sites. We don't want loads of annoying ads for a start nor do we want the uncontrolled garbage that litter so called social network sites. I recently closed my Facebook a/c after I started getting spam e-mails. Seeing as how I hadn't put my e-mail address up for public view makes me wonder how secure the privacy settings really are on Facebook. All the spam mail started with the phrase,"there's been activity on your facebook a/c, click here". If it had been from friends or contacts then their name would be on the mail, none of the spam stuff had contact names, needless to say they got deleted not opened. My spam filter is now set so any mail from Facebook will be automatically junked.
H2G2 is, when all said and done, the ultimate guide to life, the universe and everything and that's how it should be. Quirky, funny, serious, a mixture of fact and fiction with a good community spirit running alongside. We should stop doing comparisons with the like's of w*k*, our factual Edited Guide articles are more accurate for a start.
Forget any idea on changing the name. Again, it's what makes us unique.
The biggest question really is for the BBC to answer, as in, 'how long do the BBC envisage financing H2G2 and what scope for expansion is there likely to be from the Beeb, if any?'
We need more people writing/working for the EG, it is afterall the lifeblood of HooToo. It would be nice also if the Beeb linked to HooToo from their other sites including the news and other factual programmes. It would all help to spread the word wouldn't it?
