How fit in, in London

1 Conversation

If new to London, for any reason (holiday, studies, travelling the world) and do not want to be identified as a vunerable unexperienced alien to the city, this is how best to fit in to the city.

1) Ignore other human beings totally, avoid looking at other peoples faces directly

2) Never ever start up a conversation suddenly, whatever the situation (stuck in a lift, on a crammed train or on the street of Brixton are good examples)

3) Never ask for directions, or look at maps in public

4) Never get frustrated when you find it impossible to park a car

5) Don't drive cars, take London Underground, Black taxi or bus.

6) Never ever looked suprised, no matter what you see

7) Never watch or even glance at the street performers

8) NEVER give any money to the street performers

9) Don't run, walk briskly

10) Look like you know everything about London, and sneer at the tourists.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
