Yate, Bristol

1 Conversation

Yate is a bustling town, situated approximately 12 miles to the East (and up a bit) of Bristol, in the SW of the UK.

It has been around for ages, and once had the dubious pleasure of having the highest divorce rate in the UK. This had the effect of enticing single people in from the surrounding areas in their droves, to meet other (divorced) single people. It must have worked, as it is no longer has the UK's highest divorce rate for a town.

Anyway, life in Yate revolves around a rather splendid shopping centre, with a variety of shops, banks and supermarkets there. There's even a Tesco Home n' Ware there, and there can't be many of those around.

Yate seems to be a very popular place to live, and there are houses going up all over the place. It is in a very popular location for the various large companies and business parks that are within easy driving distance, and of course, it's proximity to the M4 and M5.

Crime rate is still quite low, which is quite amazing for a town of that size. The local paper covers Yate and many other nearby towns in one issue, and still remains quite thin, reporting things like "Nelly's 100th birthday", and "Cat stuck up tree- day 7 of trauma".
