Mikonet :-
I made a move yesterday evening and confirmed it, but it doesn't seem to have registered. I just made the same move again (B2 - B4) and it seems okay this time. It should be set up ready for your next move...
Sorry if this was any inconvenience to you. I don't know what went wrong, but if it happens again I guess I'd better let our Chessmaster know about it...
Yours, Lear (Tuesday evening)

Well, I just bought myself a few days' grace by covering my king with that bishop. But I won't deny you seem to have the upper hand at the moment...

Occasionally I've noticed that IE5 doesn't update onto the h2g2 servers. I have absolutely no idea why I'm afraid. Sorry. The best thing I can suggest is that if It doesn't make the move, try again a couple of times. You can't move a blank onto a piece, so there's no danger of removing a piece by moving the same one twice. Also, if it has updated the board then you should get an error message saying that there is not a piece there

Standard Kamikaze attack....
My bishop is as good as dead too....and then we are back to our standoff in the middle of the board.

Mike,
Check again! And you might as well say a fond farewell to that rook, I'm afraid...

Mike,
Sounds like you did well to get any moves made at all. (I thought your concentration had been slipping a bit recently... )

PS - what happened to your other bishop? I mean, the one on the right-hand side. The last I remember it was where your king is now - are you sure you didn't move your king onto this space by mistake, when you were moving out of the second check from my knight, a couple of moves ago?
Maybe I'm wrong. But the board just doesn't look right to me...

Lear,
Hmm...I think you're right...low contrast screen. You think we should ask them to help us fix it, or play on thru?

Mikonet,
It might be better just to play through, otherwise it could delay the game for ages, but it seems a bit unfair on you unless I sacrifice a piece of (roughly) equivalent value. I think the closest equivalent would probably be my knight up in the top left-hand corner - if you agree, we could just ignore this piece and play on as though it wasn't there. (I'd suggest sacrificing my remaining bishop but I think this would be uneven from my point of view, since your bishop was inactive whereas mine is obviously quite involved in the game.)
It might be an idea, though, if we ask them to remove it - the knight, I mean- in case it gets in the way later on. Any idea what's the best way to contact this 'Pastey' fellow?
Your, Lear

Hmmm....probably a good idea....
if we're going to treat the knight as a dead piece, maybe you could move it out and allow me to capture it with my knight?
this is turning into a very strange game...
