It's always the little things that hurt. The things that mean nothing. But they always hurt the most. Because meaning is like beauty, in the eye of the sufferer. They make you take it when you don't want it, and as you get to need it they take it away again. Wishes like fireflies dangle in front of you, but they burn. You learn not to reach for them and the pain as you watch someone else have what is yours, rips you.
Loneliness takes you, love withdraws, and a shell remains. Nakedness watches the surprise on your face but can do nothing. Laughter takes you, but hollowness echoes around you and you slip into weeping as your mind leaks out with your tears.
