Bracknell

Many good companies are situated here, there are a few nice supermarkets and a decent cinema cum bowling alley.
One of the villages that make up "Greater Bracknell", Binfield has a few really good country pubs.
Another village, Winkfield, has an excellent restaurant called "The Cottage Inn" which serves expensive, but extremely good traditional English food. Try the lamb shoulder. The South Park Centre sports the occasional cultural activity.
Apart from that, there is nothing going on here. Bracknell combines the disadvantages of the countryside with the unpleasantries of the city. It is densely populated, but it has no nightlife and no nice shops. To go out, you have to go to Wokingham, Windsor or to London.
But then, Bracknell is not even close enough to London to easily go there for night out. That involves taking an absolutely filthy train or to take the car.
There's one time of the year, though, when Bracknell is worth a visit: During the Bracknell Festival, which is not too big for comfort, charming and affordable.
