Life in Saharan Africa

0 Conversations

Hi all

I am looking for as much information as possible about life in the Sahara: types of food eaten, markets, travel, thoughts and feelings... the more creative the better. If anyone has travelled in the Sahara, through Morocco, or has friends or relatives who do so then I would love to hear from you so please add your comments to this guide entry. If you know of any Saharan poetry (I have already listened to some amazing music by Tinariwen - any translations of their songs please?) and have found out from this site - via the bbc about the political turmoil and landmine crisis in Western Sahara and the Polisario's endeavour for an independent Western Sahara (largely occupied by Morocco). It is a fascinating, amazing, thriving, moving, sad, wonderful part of the World and I want to find out more!!!

Many thanks to anyone who can contribute - or who just reads this
