1) Get about 25 people, put bright clothes on them and put them in a big field.
2) Put 2 H shaped bars at each end.
3) Give each person a lare stick, flat at one end.
4) throw in a ball( it must be small, round, and hard!!)
5) Run
6) Watch from a distance, while eating, the "players" beat each other in an attempt to whack this ball from one end to the other.
7) This must go on for 60 minutes.
8) Children are incouraged to do this.
9) Points are scored knocking the ball over the bar between the posts. A Goal is equal to 3 points but must go under the bar between the posts and past the big guy standing between them with the biggest stick on the field. Neighbouring counties, schools and parishes teach children to knock the living s**t out of each other because they are from the neighbouring county, school or parish. GAA grounds are usually palces of death ond carnage. Its good sunday entertainment!! all in all its a national pastime and thats it.
Irish legend refers to one of our mythical heros as killing a large warhound with one of these sticks known as a hurley. All in all it is a very enjoyable game with the right amounts of blood and fun.
