The Bhat
Created | Updated Mar 13, 2005
Appearance
Bhats are vaguely bat-like creatures with a huge gapping mouth, a long three-pronged tail for latching on to spines, and two small semi-useless arms. They also possess large claws for gripping and crushing skulls, and highly sensitive eyes and ears.
Hunting
Bhats eat brains. They prefer human brains but will also eat those of less intelligent beings. Bhats sit in the center of a secluded path posing as a hat waiting for a lone human to come along. Then they emit a gas from a gland on their back which causes the human to become extremely curious and pick up the 'hat' and put it on their head. As soon as they do this the bhat latches onto their skull and plunges it’s tail into the brain stem and takes control of the motor functions. Then the bhat begins to gnaw through the skull and eat the brain. The bhat keeps the heart beating to keep the brain fresh. Bhats are familiar with the human nervous system and can cause the host to stagger away if it’s feeding is in danger of being interrupted.
Habitat
The Bhat live in secluded areas inhabited by humans around the world. In cities bhats live in alleyways. In forests they hide along secluded paths.
Evolution
The bhat evolved from a vampire bat that immobilized its victims with an electric shock. The bat developed a tail to administer the shock and its tactics also changed its to take advantage of human's natural curiosity. It also developed a scent gland to enhance curiosity. It gained larger claws which improved its effectiveness at maintaining a grip on its victim.
