ADVENTURE GAMES (text based)

Text adventures have long past their heyday, today's games usually boast state of the art graphics, huge playing area's and a sophistication that makes older text based varieties look exactly what they are.....dated and crude. There are those whoever, who remember the joys of trying to use one's mind to solve puzzles in an era when just about every game available was a shoot em'up.
Older text based games can sometimes be obtained legaly from web sites, where the authors realise that the games will no longer be bringing in the money. Gamers too will sometimes feel the urge to revist an 'old friend' and have just one more go. In my case I would like to enjoy some of the classic games, that for whatever reason I never got the chance to play or quite finish. It may even by possible that a game will be dusted off as part of some older collection, or even seen cheap in some bargain store or car boot sale.
There is one problem, a major frustration with these text based games was the fact at some point, most, if not all of us would be stuck. No amount of lateral thinking provides you with the illogical concepts the author intended or you simply could NOT navigate that maze, and frankly you need help! Magazines and clubs where individuals usually found their salvation no longer cover these games so it is difficult to enjoy this type of game without becoming maddend by your inability to progress any further.
That is the idea for this page, a place where anybody wanting hint's to specific problems may leave their questions, in the hope that some kind soul may ease their torment. I was never very successful myself with this genre but did manage to complete some of the games. Who knows if somebody out there regularly supplies help and advice I may even be tempted back into the fold.....
