Recipe : Bananas in bacon blankets
Created | Updated Jan 28, 2002
Alright, so I'm a little bored, but anyway I'm sure someone'll find this interesting. This is a recipe (well...) for one of my favouritest snack/post-pub foods...
Bananas in bacon blankets Ingredients (for one)
- Two large bananas
- Four rashers of good back bacon
- A jar of honey
Preparation
Heat the grill to a medium heat. Trim and throw away any fat off the bacon. Peel the bananas, throw the skins away. Take one rasher of bacon and wrap it around the banana, working from the end towards the middle, glue this in place with a little honey. Take another rasher and finish wrapping the banana. When finished, the banana should be wrapped snug and securely in its bacon blanket. Do the same for the other banana.
Cooking
Place the bananas under the grill, and cook until the bacon is turning crisp. It is essential you turn the bananas occasionally using tongs, so every inch of meat is cooked to perfection. With practice, this is easy.
Serving
Place the bananas side by side on a large plate, with a serving of crisps (Krengels are good) or other savoury snacks. Enjoy!
