MSN is set not on the internet but in the future, the year 2195 to be exact. The story begins when the Jovian lizards attacks Earth’s colony on Mars. This is not a popular move so the Admiral of the United Earth fleet crashes his ship into there big ship which subsequently explodes. Nergol heavy industries, which has been mining Mars is also not very happy about it’s colony being over run by aliens, so they decide to build an dirty great big battleship with the latest engines and weaponry to recapture the colonies.
But who should run the most advanced spaceship Earth has to offer (despite the fact it was built on the Moon) but a bunch of young misfits, mainly because they get paid less and none of them were in a position to refuse. For example, the best qualified candidate they could find seems to be the daughter of an admiral who scored well on her exams.
The crew
Yurika Misumaru
The purpled haired girl who seems to hide her intelligence very, very well. She is practically obsessed with her childhood sweetheart Akito, she follows him around all series and during the Blank of three years, marries Akito and then gets captured by the Martian successors for two years, she is then rescued in the motion picture, the Prince of Darkness. Yurika also sings “watashi rashiku”, which in my opinion is the best song in the world.
Akito Tenkawa
The so-called “lucky b*****d”, this loser was also raised on Mars however when the Jovains attacked, was teleported to Earth and his memory wiped. His life long ambition is to be Cook however is forced to become a pilot of an aestivalis, which is the series mecha robot which all Japanese anime/mange seem to introduce at some point.
Jun Aoi
He cares about Earth and only wants to do what is best for it. Jun is pretty much just a background character, but the ship would fall apart without him. His only companionship comes from Prospector, Akatsuki, and Seiya grieving together as the entire female crew goes ga-ga over Akito. In The Prince of Darkness, Jun captains the battleship Amaryllis.
