A Red Letter Day - Pet Shop Boys
This British duo consists of Neil Francis Tennant (born on July 10th, 1954 in North Shield, Northumberland) and Christopher Sean Lowe (born October 4th, 1959 in Blackpool, Lancashire).
When they met on August 19th, 1981 in an electonics shop on Kings Road (in London), Neil worked for Smash Hits and Chris was an architect. When they discovered they were both interested in dance music they decided to start writing songs together.
At first they called themselves West End, but it soon changed into Pet Shop Boys (inspired by a couple of friends working in a pet shop).
