The wine party of the (next) millenium

0 Conversations

There's a tiny village in Beaujolais which is already planning for the best wine party of the next millenium. Over 10,000 people are expected at Letra en Beaujolais on the 3rd weekend of July 2000, for the "Nuit des caves en fete". About a dozen stands around the village have their own wine cellar open to the public. Each one has its own wines, its own 4 course meal, (have a course in each!) its own music and dancing and very often its own jugglers or fire eaters. There's even a supervised children's village. Open all night and ridiculously cheap, this village in a gorgeous but relatively unknown part of central France is transformed for one weekend every 2 years.
