Schunk Effect
Created | Updated Jan 28, 2002
I am not a small child, either are my friends, but i will admit that we quite often play video games together (but that is quite beside the point I'm getting at). In multiplayer games the televison screen is divided into four or two sections, dependant on the number of players you have. In combat style games i.e. Goldeneye 007, any Quake games, Doom ect., This has always been an advantage to the player who knows the game the best. By simply looking at their compitions sreen they could easily hunt them down. Until now the underdog was always at a disadvantage. Thanks to Nate Schunk the underdog could become the victor. The 'apparatus' as it's become to be known is a simple device that is set up on the television screen to block out your compitions screens, as well as blocking in your own screen. This allows for a more 'realistic' game. As real as you could possibly get without getting into virtual reality complications. The aparatus is composed of two sheets of poster board set in a cross formation. They can be adhered to the television set with any means necessary, a more convenient way to attach the apparatus is currantly underway. If you have any suggestions as to how this could be done I welcome them all. (assuming we havn't already thought of them, then you wouldn't know that we had anyway) so send them anyway. Or if you simply fail to see the potential, or understand exactly what it is I'll try to enlighten you.
