There is only one team in Bristol

And what is even more surprising to most is that it is in fact not Manchester United.

Bristol City Football Club are what is known in football terms as, "A proper club." You cannot call yourself a true football fan unless you support, "A proper club." Anybody can support your Arsenals, Chelseas or other Premiership rich boys.

You see, unless you've experienced the agony - the extasy means nothing. I have experienced the agony for over 20 years now. Oh sure, there have been a few times. To be a team that bounces between divisions you have to bounce up occasionally, but City are the only team ever to have dropped from the old first division (Premiership before the money arrived) to the old fourth division in three successive seasons.

Bristol City use terms such as, "Sleeping giant" to describe themselves. Bleedin' unconscious more like. They did win the Freight Rover trophy a few years ago, and spent some time in the top flight between 1977 and 1982. 1985 saw them in 92nd place in the football league. There are only 92 clubs.

For now though they bide their time in Nationwide League division 2, waiting to wake up. The thing is... when they do... I'll probably be in the gents.
