Future Star Trek Plot?

Is it just me, or is Kennewick man really Jean-Luc Picard?

Now that you mention it, the resemblance is uncanny. I'm surprised Paramount hasn't launched a bid to claim it in order to protect the franchise.

Maybe that plot was discarded because they'd already done the one where they find Data's spare head in a basement in 19th Century San Fransisco.

True. They didn't really come up with any new plots from the original series, apart from the Holodeck Plot.

I heard DS9 recycled The Trouble with Tribbles episode, by placing current characters amongst those of the past.

Yep. Saw that one. Dax has got seriously nice legs.
As I remember, they gave Worf a bit of stick about how Klingons looked so different then, but he never came up with any explanation.

Perhaps they were a racial variant which has since been supplanted for its abysmal failures against such an appalling actor. Remember how seriously they take their Shakespeare!

Back to Data's spare head. Perhaps they marooned it in SF because all the other heads got together and voted it the big-eared ugly one.

Without turning this into a rabid Trekkie warzone, what d'ya reckon about the idea of a new Trek series starring Sulu and the Excelsior?

Not to sure really. Sulu didn't seem to be a strong enough character to sustain his own series.
And how old is George Takei these days?

According to IMDB (God bless that website), he'll be 60 next month. Which isn't that old really.
I think the emphasis of such a series (and there is absolutely nothing to suggest that anything of the kind is currently on the tables) would be old vs new. Sulu represents both the Old Guard and The Old Series, while elements of his crew would represent the New Guard and The Next Generation. Obviously some drama would result in conflict between the two.

If they're not ready to bury ST when Voyager ends, perhaps any new series could be based around a different race?
Instead of being centred on the Federation, which is really quite tedious, perhaps they could used the Klingons, or Romulans, or invent a new species.
Or just bury it!
