Well done Mustapha, love the heraldic imput to H2G2 HS very proper of us to have our own coat of arms. Do we have a latin motto yet of not.

Thanks, DD. smiley - smiley

Actually I hadn't considered it as a coat of arms. Initially I was thinking of a simple plaque with h2g2 Historical Society on some fancy marble-patterned fill with perhaps a stylised brazier as a logo. But then I started playing around with the initials hHS, combining the 'h' and the 'S' to make a flame, with the 'H' forming the brazier. In the current version, I've incorporated a bit of h2g2 (well, h2g really) in the flame. I separated the loop of the 'h' and accentuated the serif, to make it more like a '2', and combined a 'G/g' with the 'S'.

It's a bit rough at the moment and I might replace it with a more polished image later. But for now, it serves it's purpose.

A Latin Motto? Well, since I don't have a copy of their song to link to, and I don't want to incur the wrath of APRA (the royalties people), I'll use a Latinised version of Split Enz's "History Never Repeats" - Historia nunquam iterare. (If someone could correct my very superficial knowledge of Latin, I'd be much obliged).

Just about right with the Latin, Mustapha, as far as I can tell. But try "Historia numquam iterat". "Iterat" is third person singular "he/she/it repeats"; "iterare" is the infinitive "to repeat".

Great coat of arms, to iterate on DD.

Cheers
Bran.

The irony is that I stuck Mental Notes into my drive at the start of this session. Spooky.

Bran surely if you are going "to iterate" me shouldn't you merely "iterare" me. Just a grammatical point.
