A Conversation for HOW DARE THEY CALL US YOUNG

Why do older people look down on us

Post 1

The Cheese

I'm 13, and I've been wondering:

Why do older people think that younger people are dumb, disrespectful, etc.? It's been bugging me.

Not all of 'us' do

More seriously, I guess it depends on whether you join in conversations etc. as

an 'adult'
a child
or as a member of the cross breed, a 'teenager'

Now most people in the 8-20 year bracket can operate in a 3 modes (but rarely simultaneously), but I guess that the 'teenager'/'adult' difference in much easier to see once ones left being a teenager - think about the way you see the difference between being a child & being a teenager.

I hope that a/ make sense b/ doesn't come across as patronising --- oh help, my head's exploding smiley - smiley

Teenagers. How I have lived in fear of them for my whole life. In fifteen days, I, myself, will be one.

Hi Lisa,

I agree with the big cheese - I quite enjoyed being a teenager -
