A Conversation for Peregrin's Towel

What a towel!

It's more like an assault drying-off device! smiley - winkeye

It's got quite difficult to actually dry myself off with it, and so I'm currently installing a built-in turbo 100KW hairdryer, which doubles as a hovercraft.

That's one of the most sensible things I've ever read here on h2g2! smiley - winkeye

What I'd *really* like is one of those 'Don't Panic!' towels that were made when the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was first broadcast as a radio play. I wonder if they're still around. smiley - bigeyes

That sounds like something you could ask in the 'Ask h2g2' forums...

I have a "don't panic" towel ...
well no I lie, but I'm sure I could whip one up with a common towel and a felt marker.

Now there's an idea!
I've got quarter of a picture of one of the original Don't Panic towels. That's as near as I've got so far.

this is a bit too weird.

Lemme join in.

Hello Xavius. Do you have three quarters of a towel perchance?

I must root out my heavyweight battle towel someday. You know, the type ideal for winding up and whacking people's heads off in sports changing rooms.

I have nightmares about towels like that. Well not exactly night mares but you get the idea.

I got a new towel the other day. I also got the other hichhicker's necessity- Paperclips!
But my towel is better looking.

Any interesting design? smiley - bigeyes

Paperclips are critical in the workplace. Not for holding bits of paper together, but for fiddling with when you're bored.

Paper clips have a BILLION uses:
Clipping paper, picking locks,
There is a million ways to kill someon with one- Although I don't suggest it-
The posibilities are endless!

I'm sure your towel is parked on a server at the Oort Cloud .... the picture takes so long to build up. Shouldn't one have his towel instantly available? Do you use Kleenex in an emergency, or do you live up there? Though, having just seen the upper third of your towel, I must admit it looks impressive!

Sorry I must have put it on as a GIF. When I get round to it (ie. next year sometime, if at all) I'll convert it to JPG so it takes up less room.

Hmm... a compressed towel. That has possibilities...

well, I'm looking forward to your guide entry: "How many pixels should a good towel have" with some nice data on compression ratios of towels originating from different solar systems. smiley - winkeye
BTW, I think that you are very open minded publishing a picture of your towel anyway. I show mine only to my closest friends and never let them speak to them when I'm not present.

Well, a lot of people have reservations about showing their towels in public or on the internet. It's only recently been legalised, and most people are too embarressed. I'm very open minded and thought I would show my towel to all and sundry. Nobody's laughed at it yet.

LOL ... if I was a bad person ..... ooops .... I am NOT a bad person, so I can't say any more. However, I think laughing about other people's towels is very impolite and should be abolished throughout the galaxy.
