Is there a God?
I personally don't believe in any ultimate being.
I think that the concept of an ultimate being is an idea created by our desire to find something in this universe that tells us we are not alone, that our lives do not consist of being born and then dying an insignificant amount of time later. That the very thing that gave us life, the sun, in several million years will swallow our beautiful planet.
We created money, war and love to keep us occupied. We created science to explain the bubble we lived in. We created an ultimate being, someone to watch over us throughout our life and to explain things we cant explain, to be someone who loved us completely even if we had noone.
And to vanquish our ultimate fear --death, we created the idea of an afterlife so that we might never be forgotten.
But through all of this, the human race will become extinct at some point; and the suns searing heat as it engulfs earth will destroy all trace of us. And then nothing... we will have been a small event in a universe that may one day end. And then what? Who knows?
The idea of infinite nothingness and the true pointlessness of our existence is enough to drive anyone mad. So maybe its a good thing that we have all of these little distractions in our lives; for if we didn’t we wouldn't have anything to do but eat, fight, evolve and keep the _glorious_ human race going. For that in truth is all we seem to be here for.
Don't get me wrong I have beliefs and ambitions. I believe that there is more to the world than science sees, that there are energies existing in a way we cant measure...I've enjoyed sunsets, kissed under fire works, fought with friends and then cried with them afterwards, danced wildly and sat quietly creating my own theories about this world.
But even after saying all of the above you can’t blame me for distracting myself...After all, I'm only human.
