Hastings is a town with a fair bit of History. In 1066 the famous Battle of Hastings took place. This Battle actually took place in a location a few miles from Hastings where their now stands a small town which has been imaginatively called Battle.
Approximately 100 years ago John Logie Baird invented the television and was staying in Hastings when he completed the first successful tests of his new device. If you enter the town by road you are likely to see the signs proclaiming Hastings as the birthplace of television. You will notice the signs, as you will probably be travelling at a fairly low speed due to the lack of decent roads in East Sussex.
Hastings has one of the highest rates of Unemployment in the South East of England, but it is not all that bad a place to live. Until a couple of years ago there were no good shops in Hastings, but that has been rectified by the Priory Meadow Shopping Centre which has been built in the town centre.
