It has been sugested that Capra was examining the monied suburban sociey of the time - that shots of money will perpetrate capitalist aspirations. To me the film is about the antithesis of capitalism, realistic in that this goes on but a sign of christmas that some things are more important ie people life equality. I have been stoppped in my tracks by 'The Parrot Sketch' a 'Van Gough' painting, 'White Rabbit' 'Holocaust'(I was 11 when I found out WHY DIDN'T THEY TELL ME?) and this film. Not everyone is a baddie, I believe that my glass is always half full and my ashtray half empty: (so I smoke-we can't all hang on till we are 90 and a burden).
