A single thought about Meditation

Warning this is not a political piece nor is meant to explore all aspects of one or many different practices; i am just writing from personal experiences.

Meditation is less and less confined to the mantra singing monks in the high altitudes of Tibet. Western society is becoming more and more accepting of these eastern philosophies and practices. They are doing it in Russia, in Canada, South America, Africa, and Europe. It's many different variations have spread across the globe regardless of native religion or politics.

Although our society is firmly built on Meritocratic and capitilism, there is more than enough room for a different way of looking at things to those that have been passed down to us from our parents parents. There is unlikely any utopian island of self discovery for all to be had where we all end up perfectly balanced with each other and the world around us, but meditation brings the knowledge that it is possible if we allow it and most importantly put our minds to it.
