A particularly popular dessert or snack treat made of marshmallow and Rice Krispies. Rice Krispies(TM), for the unenlightened, are a simple puffed rice breakfast cereal produced by the Kelloggs corporation. It is worth mentioning that, due to the proliferation of varieties within the Rice Krispies brand name, the original version is now produced exclusively for the purpose of these treats. This can be observed from the box artwork; where other cereals show bowls full of the cereal and milk, Rice Krispies depict the snack treat instead. Kelloggs now produces special, seasonal varieties for holiday use, so your treats can include Christmas trees, Jack-o-Lanterns, Easter Eggs, or whatever they think will sell the product.
To make Rice Krispie Treats, simply melt a bag of marshmallows - this is easiest with the miniatures - with a little butter, and mix in about five cups of Rice Krispies. Stir this up and pour into a buttered baking dish and let sit. Cut up into bars and serve.
