HI!
After I've put in entries, don't they get put in the search part of the guide?
I told some friends about an entry I did, and they went to look for it and they couldn't find it anywhere, even in the index of all entries...why?

The search index is only recompiled every few hours, not all the time (or everything would freeze!), so it takes a while for your entries to be indexed, and therefore searchable.
You should be able to find them now - are you still having a problem?

No..thanks. Bit ambitious of me to expect instant cataloguing!
Is it me or does tis site not have a lot of people in chat rooms and stuff as it seems it used to?

Er... we've never had chat rooms on h2g2. If you mean Conversation forums, then they're busier than ever, but perhaps you're not looking in the right place? There's *loads* of activity!
Click on the Talk button for lots of places where people are chatting, and the Contribute button to find out where they're contributing to the Guide.
There's also the list of the 5 Busiest Conversations on the front page that's worth checking out.
Hope this helps.
